Silver Jewellery:

Silver is a soft metal. Due to its softness, silver is mixed with other alloy metals to give it strength which prevents it from becoming easily scratched or dented. This creates what we know as Sterling Silver, which typically has a silver content of 92.5%` and a 7.5% mix of other alloys to create that lustrous shine.

It is not uncommon for Sterling silver jewellery to oxidise and become dull looking over time. This is a natural reaction to the chemicals in the air, heat and the body oils of the wearer.

Gold Plated:

Many styles in the Urban Bling Jewellery are offered with rose gold and yellow gold plating. These items are made from a solid Sterling silver base and plated in 18K gold.

Gold plating is a thin layer and adequate care must be taken to prolong the finish of these items. Gold plated jewellery is considered more delicate that solid Sterling silver and gold jewellery. Over time, the plating will slowly wear away.

Care Instructions:

Please follow these care instructions to preserve the longevity of your jewellery and to ensure you get the best out of your purchase!

Avoid contact with liquids and chemicals (i.e. perfume, sea water, sweat, moisturiser and chlorine). Consistent contact with these liquids will damage your piece of jewellery over time.
Avoid your perfume, makeup, hairspray or moisturiser first before putting on your jewellery
Do not expose your jewellery to humidity (bathrooms and sunrooms) and ensure it is not stored in direct sunlight as it will accelerate tarnishing.
Do not wear plated jewellery doing any physical activity where you are perspiring or swimming in either salt water or chlorinated water.
To prevent dullness and tarnish, each silver piece should ideally be cleaned then stored in its own soft jewellery pouch or bag. We recommend separating your silver jewellery from other metals, because they can also speed up the process of tarnish.
Do not store sterling silver jewellery on wood surfaces because natural woods contain acids which might react with your jewellery. If you cannot store your pieces in jewellery bags, we recommend a lined jewellery box or similar.

Cleaning Methods:

To remove dirt, smudges and oils from the surface, you should polish your silver regularly with a soft polishing cloth or soft cotton cloth. Never used coarse fabrics as this will result in scratching.
Below are fairly common silver cleaning methods for your reference. There are many other methods can be found over the web. If possible, we recommend tarnished silver jewellery to be cleaned professionally at your local jewellers.
Please use below listed methods at your own discretion only. We accept no responsibility of damage caused due to wrong method/chemical used.
